Application Materials

THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS January 14, 2022; applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.

Instructions

We are using the REU common application

An applicant visiting the site for the first time will need to create a log in and will receive an NSF user number.  The EcoREU program site number is 100000142.

Common Application Components:

The common application can be used to apply to multiple REUs.

The common application requires a personal statement (<5000 characters) that will go to every REU one applies for and may be a general statement.  It requests a transcript that can be unofficial and a resume. Applicants will also need to provide the names and contacts of 3 references. We advise applicants to prioritize academic references.  If you do not have a teacher or professor that knows you well that can write a personal and positive reference, please consider previous employers.

EcoREU-specific questions within the Common Application:

The EcoREU program has requested an additional personal statement that focuses specifically on your interest in the EcoREU program. Please focus the statement on why you are interested in participating in EcoREU specifically.  Please detail what you hope to accomplish in the EcoREU program.  If you have a particular mentor you are interested in working with, please provide their names.  There can be some common text between the common application personal statement and the EcoREU-specific personal statement.  Our goal is to gage your interest in our specific program.

Please feel free to contact ecoreu@uark.edu with any questions.

Application deadline:

Reviews will begin after February 11, 2022 and continue until all positions are filled; you are encouraged to submit your application before the deadline if you want to be considered in the first round of offers.
