Fulbright College Department of Art Launches New B.F.A. in Graphic Design

Students who want to use print, web and motion design to become makers and thoughtful problem solvers now have a new degree option at the University of Arkansas – the Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design.

The new B.F.A. program, which launched fall 2016, builds on the longstanding tradition of the university’s Department of Art, which has been teaching graphic design courses and skills to studio art students for the past three decades in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

Fulbright College Launches Online Master of Social Work Program This Fall

The J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences will launch an online advanced standing Master of Social Work degree program this fall. This program allows professionals with a bachelor’s degree in social work to further their education by studying full-time to complete the degree in one year.

“The M.S.W. is the gold-standard, terminal practice degree within the field of social work,” said Yvette Murphy-Erby, associate dean of social sciences at Fulbright College. “We are very proud to now offer this degree online in addition to our on-campus program, helping more professionals succeed in this challenging yet rewarding field.”

Janine A. Parry has published a new edition of a book that focuses on gender roles in today's political world.

The book, titled Women's Rights in the USA: Policy Debates and Gender Roles, was co-authored by Parry and Dorothy McBride, a retired professor of Florida Atlantic University. This new edition incorporates not only the history and evolution of women's rights and issues, but also the current state of these rights and the policies that concern them.

Students Can Earn Both German and Engineering Degrees Through U of A Program

Students with an interest in expanding their international career options can enroll in the International Engineering Program — a multidisciplinary initiative between the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, through a partnership between the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the College of Engineering.

Launched last year, the International Engineering Program allows students to earn both a German and an engineering or computer science degree in five years including a year spent in Germany.
