Archeology Teaching & Research Faculty
My interests span several domains that might be labeled "techno-archaeology." They include archaeological computer applications (particularly GIS), remote sensing and geophysical prospecting, and quantitative methods, especially spatial analysis methods, as they relate to human spatial behavior. I also have an interest in lithic technology.
My principal focus currently lies in archaeological prospecting through geophysical surveys, where I have extensive experience in geomagnetic, electrical resistivity, electromagnetic induction, ground penetrating radar, and other methods. I have conducted geophysical and archaeological projects in the Great Plains, Great Basin, Plateau, Southwest, West Coast, Arctic, New England, and the Mexican Highlands of North America. I have also worked in Europe (Germany, Northern Ireland, Spain) and India. My archaeological focus currently lies in the Middle Missouri River villagers of the Dakotas and the prehistoric hunters-and-gatherers of several Rocky Mountain regions.
