Mathew McConnell holds an M.F.A. in ceramics from the University of Colorado at Boulder (2009) and a BFA in studio art from Valdosta State University (2004). McConnell has held numerous solo exhibitions and his works have been included in group exhibitions in China, Australia, New Zealand, and in many venues across the United States. He has been a summer resident and long-term resident at the Archie Bray Foundation, where he was awarded the Lilian Fellowship in 2011 and the Sage Scholarship in 2007. In 2010, McConnell served for ten months as Artist in Residence and Visiting Lecturer of Contemporary Craft at Unitec in Auckland, New Zealand.
Marty Maxwell Lane

Marty Maxwell Lane holds an M.G.D. from North Carolina State University and B.F.A. in graphic design from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Lane is a graphic design educator, maker, researcher and writer.
In addition to her role as interim associate director, Lane is an associate professor of graphic design in the School of Art. She worked with colleagues to establish the first B.F.A. in graphic design at the school and is currently working to develop a master's program. Lane teaches in all areas of design, ranging from introductory to advanced, print to digital, but specializes in teaching typography, social design and speculative technology.
Her research focuses on design that facilitates learning and empowerment through investigations pertaining to design pedagogy, collaboration, and participatory design. Her active role in the design community has led her to present at competitive conferences in Cyprus, Berlin, London, Rome, Toronto and the United States. Marty served as a regular writing contributor to the design magazine Parse (subsidiary of How magazine) and several other academic journals, magazines, and books such as Failing Forward and Type Rules! The Designer’s Guide to Professional Typography. As a long time AIGA member, Marty has served on numerous boards, including the Director of Education for the Kansas City chapter and she currently serves as the Co-Chair of the national AIGA Design Educators Steering Committee and advisor for the Northwest Arkansas Chapter.
