Michael Maizels is an art historian and curator whose research focuses on the intertwining histories of art, technology and culture in the last five decades. His first book, on the “post-minimal” process sculptor Barry Le Va, was published by the University of Minnesota in 2015. A preview chapter was also published by the Walker Museum. A second book, on the interactions between experimental artists and composers in the 1960s, is currently under review. A preview chapter from this volume is forthcoming in the Winter 2017 issue of Performance Art Journal.

Most recently, he was the curator of The Game Worlds of Jason Rohrer. This exhibition, which was the first museum solo show given to a videogame maker, received favorable press in publications include The New York TimesArtforumThe New Yorker and Vice magazine. The catalog from that exhibition can be purchased from MIT Press.
