Lucas J. Knowles graduated Cum Laude in 2014, completing his thesis and earning a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. His undergraduate concentration was a hybridization of both ceramic and mixed-media sculpture. With his work, Lucas displays nature and the cosmos as spiritual entities, providing religious and didactic visuals to accompany his reverence of the interrelation of all tangible things. Lucas has displayed works across the country, spanning from the North American southwest to the southeast. His most recent notable juried exhibition was held at Arizona State University’s Harry Wood Gallery, which was in conjunction with the International Sculpture Center 2015 Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. The exhibition was juried by Garth Johnson, curator of the ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center.
