Daniel Fischer is a third-year Ph.D. student who studies under Elliott West. He is presently the assistant editor of the Arkansas Historical Quarterly. In previous years at the University of Arkansas, he taught the pre-1877 United States history survey course and served as a research assistant. Fischer earned B.A. degrees in history and rhetoric and an M.S. degree in journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an M.A. degree in history from Virginia Tech. His primary historical interests include the American West, the natural environment, and daily life.
