Declare

In following the application process, you will have the opportunity to declare journalism as your major. If you choose not to declare a major right away, you can apply as “undeclared” in the Fulbright College. You will automatically be placed in Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences as an “undeclared major.” You can then declare – or change – a major at any time.

Students can declare their major by coming to the Fulbright College Advising Center. Visit https://fulbright.uark.edu/advising-center to find out how to make an appointment to discuss journalism as a major.

ThreeChoose a Sequence

In your meeting with your Fulbright College advisor, you declare journalism as a major and select a sequence to follow in the school (News/Editorial, Broadcast, or Advertising/Public Relations). Your advisor will complete paperwork regarding your journalism sequence request. In Advertising/Public Relations, you’ll be a pre-major until you complete the entrance requirements for the sequence (or until you have and maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher, and complete JOUR 3723 Advertising Principles and JOUR 3743 Public Relations Principles with a grade of B or better).
