Instructor, print journalism. B.A. in communication/journalism from Mississippi State University, 1989. Shelton joined the department in 2012 after a 17-year career with The Associated Press. She covered politics and legal affairs for the AP, including the U.S. Supreme Court beat. She has discussed legal issues on NPR and NBC’s The Today Show. Her first journalism job was working for her father, Gary Holland, a newspaper editor in Pascagoula, Miss. She lives in Fayetteville with her husband, George, and their two children.
