Graduate Fellowships and Assistantships

Graduate Assistantship

Regular Graduate Assistants are guaranteed to be paid $18,600 for 9 months and the department pays your tuition. Summer support is also available. In addition, travel funds to present paper at a conference is available.

Minimum Requirements for Graduate Assistantship:

B.S. degree (preferably in physics) with a GPA of 3.0
All non-US Citizens must have an iBT-TOEFL score of 79, with a speaking score of 26.


Fellowships

Doctoral Academy Fellowship

The 12 month stipend is $30,600 ($18,600 GA stipend plus $12,000 DAF stipend) and, in addition, your tuition is paid by the department.

Minimum Requirements for Doctoral Academy Fellowship:

Entering with a B.S.:

GPA of 3.3 overall and 3.6 in Physics and Math
GRE General Tests Scores of 160 (GRE Quantitative), 309/1600 (Total), 4.0/6.0 (Writing)

Entering with a M.S.:

GPA of 3.65 in M.S.
GRE General Test Scores of 160 (GRE Quantitative), 309/1600 (Total), 4.0/6.0 (Writing)

Distinguished Doctoral Fellowship

The 12-month stipend is $40,600 ($18,600 GA stipend plus $22,000 DDF stipend) and, in addition, the department pays your tuition. (Deadline for all materials is January 15, each year, applicant must be a US citizen).

Minimum Requirements for Distinguished Doctoral Fellowship:

Entering with a B.S.:

GPA of 3.5 overall and 3.8 in Physics and Math
GRE General Test Scores of 162 (GRE Quantitative), 315/1600 (Total), 4.5/6.0 (writing)

Entering with a M.S.:

GPA of 3.8 in M.S.
GRE General Test Scores of 162 (GRE Quantitative), 315/1600 (Total), 4.5/6.0 (writing)
