A Message From The Chair

Welcome to the Political Science Department!
Thank you for visiting our website. We have a unique and engaged faculty that represents contemporary political thought from around the world and in our own backyard. In the last two years we have added two new faculty members to our department:

Teaching has never been better in Political Science. This past year three faculty members have been recognized for excellence in teaching and mentoring students:

New and exciting things are happening in our graduate degree programs. Dr. Pearl Dowe was appointed the Director of Graduate Studies over the summer. This past spring, we graduated our first Masters in Public Administration class according to our new portfolio examination process. The MPA portfolio is designed to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and real-world application a student has mastered through coursework and participation in professional development opportunities.

The department is also taking a more focused effort in collaborative teaching this coming year. This has been kicked-off with the development of the Political Science Collaboratory.  A collaboratory is a laboratory “without walls,” where faculty and students collaboratively work within a service learning context with local government agencies, community groups, and other organizations to address contemporary issues with the goal of creating new community-based solutions.

Again, thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Political Science department. Please go to our Facebook page to catch-up on more of the day-to-day events in our department!
