About the School

The mission of the School of Social Work is to improve the lives of vulnerable persons, families, groups, organizations and communities, especially those in economic risk. We achieve this mission by using evidence-based practices to educate social work leaders/practitioners; emphasizing critical thinking and self-awareness; facilitating collaborative relationships in the community; and conducting original research.

The School of Social Work embraces individual differences among all members of the University of Arkansas community. Although students' legal names are listed in all official records at the University of Arkansas, the School of Social Work is committed to honoring student preferences and will gladly address students by an alternate name or gender pronoun. Make sure to advise your instructors, advisors and colleagues of your preferences early in the semester so that we may all use the name and pronouns that you prefer.
