Dr. Luana Marques Garcia Visits UARK
Dr. Luana Marques Garcia, Social Development Specialist of the Gender and Diversity Division of the IDB, will present the Gender and Diversity Sector Framework for addressing race inequalities and two major operations in the area of Youth Violence Prevention and Economic Empowerment.
Her presentation will focus on the discussion of existing multilateral mechanisms used to promote race and ethnic equality. Dr. Garcia will also discuss the challenges African-Descendents face in Brazil and some policy debates around the development of new initiatives targeting ethnic groups.
The event is sponsored by Department of World Languages, Literatures & Cultures, U of A's Portuguese Program, the Latin American and Latino Studies program, the Department of Sociology & Criminal Justice and the Brazilian Student Organization (BRSO).
