"How did the Holocaust affect...?"

Have you ever thought about or wondered how the Holocaust affected the subjects you study? Persecuted scholars, thinkers, workers, and their families fled or were murdered; businesses and institutions lost people, closed, or were even complicit. The way we think about policies and laws changed, the way we think about language changed, entire branches of study had to be rethought.

In this class, you’ll hear from UA scholars about how the Holocaust affected their field, from the people who shaped it to the ideas they had. You’ll also have the opportunity to hear from a Holocaust survivor.

Students will hear and discuss lectures in class; outside of class, students will research how the Holocaust affected their own fields of study or interest.
