First-year Medical Student Panel: come and hear what medical school is really like from University of Arkansas alumni. OCTOBER

Make-a Difference Day: volunteer on this Saturday event to do community service in Fayetteville. OCTOBER

How to prepare for the MCAT: representatives from Kaplan will give information about their program and a student panel of premedical students who recently took the MCAT will speak about how they prepared for the MCAT. OCTOBER

Medical Ethics Forum: an event to discuss controversial topics in medicine faced by health-care professionals and health-care consumers with a professor from the Department of Philosophy as a moderator. NOVEMBER 

Health Care Disparities: a panel of health-care providers and a professor of nursing will discuss access to health care for underserved areas and for individuals who are uninsured or under-insured. NOVEMBER


Alpha Epsilon Delta Annual Spring Banquet: all new and current members of AED are encouraged to attend the banquet which is also open to the university community. Elections of new executive officers will take place at the banquet. FEBRUARY

Medical Ethics Forum: a biannual event to discuss controversial topics in medicine faced by health-care professionals and health-care consumers with a professor from the Department of Philosophy as a moderator. MARCH

The College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Center for Health Sciences at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa, OK holds and an annual spring MEDextravaganza Event. This one-day open house and tour is a great opportunity to find out more about a career as an osteopathic physician and what it takes to become a licensed D.O and practice in a variety of medical specialties. MARCH

All premedical students are invited to tour the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences College. This will be an all-day trip to Little Rock. We will car-pool. Students will have the opportunity to visit the Institute on Aging, the neonatal care unit, the operating room gallery, and many other points of interest. There will also be an opportunity to meet with current medical students who completed their undergraduate work at UA Fayetteville. APRIL

Every year, graduating seniors from the University of Arkansas who have been accepted to medical hold a panel to discuss their experiences with multiple medical interviews they have attended. This information is very useful for all students, especially student planning on applying to very competitive private medical schools around the nation and for those planning on applying for combined MD/PhD programs. APRIL

This workshop is offered on 4 different days. It is intended for ALL applicants to medical school who plan on applying to medical school in that calendar year. It is essential that you attend one of these workshops to receive instructions and deadlines to be eligible for an evaluation letter from the University of Arkansas Premedical Advisory Committee. Completed medical school applications for a committee letter will be due in August. APRIL

This workshop will be given twice and is designed for medical school applicants. We give you information and guidance to write an effective "Personal Comment" section for the AMCAS and the AACOMAS medical school applications. You will have an opportunity to critically read and discuss examples of statements.
