The Department of History offers an outstanding curriculum and broad catalog of courses for students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, or Doctor of Philosophy in History. The Department also offers a minor in History both on campus and online through the UofA Global Campus. Students benefit from a variety of experiential learning opportunities, including internships, study abroad, and hands-on research, and they may participate in a number of accelerated programs in preparation for graduate school, law school, or social science education.

Our faculty include internationally renowned experts whose scholarship ranges widely across the discipline. The faculty teach and research in a variety of geographies and cultures, from the ancient to the post-modern eras.

Did you know?: The Department of History is home to the oldest chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society, which was founded at the University of Arkansas in 1921!
