Professor Franklin received a BA in English/Creative Writing, BSW, and MSW from the University of Arkansas and was most recently a palliative care social worker for the Washington Regional Medical System (WRMC). She is a full-time faculty member at the University of Arkansas School of Social Work where she has taught Human Behavior & the Social Environment II, Social Welfare Policy, Social Work Practice II, Social Work Practice III, and BSW II Seminar, Spirituality in Social Work, Field Seminar, and supervised interns at field placements, such as 7Hills, Transitional Care (WRMC), Headstart, Equestrian Bridges, and Canopy.
Professor Franklin has professional experience in the areas of community organization, geriatric social work, school social work, advocacy for survivors of sexual violence, community health and has experience working with children and adolescents in an inpatient mental health unit. Prior to working in palliative care, she worked as a hospice social worker. Professor Franklin is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) and an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Social Worker (ACHP-SW).
