Dr. Marcia A. Shobe received her B.A. degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, her M.S.W. degree from the University of Hawai'i, and her Ph.D. degree from the University of Kansas. Dr. Shobe has practice experience in medical trauma, in-patient psychiatric services, community economic development and brief, solution-focused techniques. She has taught courses in individual practice, research, juvenile justice, administration and supervision, field seminar, social work practice with communities and organizations and social policy. In terms of her administrative experience, Dr. Shobe has served as Director and Associate Director of the School of Social Work; she has also previously served as MSW Program Coordinator at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. Dr. Shobe has accrued over $2.5 million in graduate student education and training funds and over $2 million in research funds. She maintains an active research agenda in the areas of health disparities, anti-poverty policy and practice; community development, and child welfare.
